Two Rivers High School
Our History
Since 1954 Two Rivers High School students have received college scholarships through the efforts of community volunteers. Since that time, more than $2.6 million has been awarded.
Initially, area PTAs had "Ice Cream Socials" to provide the funds of about $3000 annually. In 1985, the area PTAs joined forces with the new Henry Sibley Community Scholarship Program and began raising funds through donations from area residents, businesses and organizations. In 1987 the Scholarship Program partnered with the District 197 "Foundation for Excellence," reaching more donors.
In 2003, the Henry Sibley Community Scholarship Fund first associated with Scholarship America's Dollars for Scholars program. The mission of Dollars for Scholars is to help make post-secondary education possible for all students. Through partnerships with nearly 500 colleges, universities and technical schools across the country, students may receive matching dollars from this program depending on where they attend college.
In 2021, we became Two Rivers Dollars for Scholars, which exists for the sole purpose of soliciting and collecting funds in order to provide scholarships encouraging Two Rivers graduates to pursue a broad sprectrum of post-secondary education and training. Community volunteers manage the donor mailings, accounts, awarding of scholarships and the senior awards ceremony.
Each year, we receive donations from businesses, foundations, civic organizations, community residents, parents and alumni. Donations of more than $750 are eligible to be named scholarships. Many booster clubs and school organizations sponsor scholarships as well, awarding scholarships to those who have participated in their designated activities.
